The Italian multinational will fund the Chair for 10 years
Teaching, research and communication in the field of strategic innovation are the three cornerstones of the new Luiss “Strategic Innovation” Chair, funded thanks to the agreement with Angelini Industries, which will be launched on Monday 21 November at 4 p.m. at the university campus at 32 Viale Romania in Rome.
The new partnership between Luiss and the Italian multinational, active in the health, large-scale retail, industrial technology, fragrance and skincare and winemaking sectors, was heavily championed by Rector Andrea Prencipe and the CEO of Angelini Industries, Sergio Marullo di Condojanni, who will introduce the lecture of Giovanni Valentini, new Chair of “Strategic Innovation”.
With the launch of this new Chair, which also includes impactful teaching and research projects, the university named after Guido Carli consolidates its position as a pioneer in the field of Innovation, supported by a teaching staff of international prestige such as Henry Chesbrough, Maire Tecnimont Chair in Open Innovation and Sustainability at Luiss, as well as Director of the Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation at Berkeley University of California and father of Open Innovation.
The focus on innovation will be further strengthened now by the arrival of Professor Giovanni Valentini, formerly a lecturer at IESE Business School, as well as co-editor of Industrial and Corporate Change and Associate Editor of Management Science and Chair of the Knowledge & innovation Interest Group of the Strategic Management Society. The studies of Valentini - who joins the Luiss Research Center "Leadership, Innovation and Organization" (CLIO) - focus on the analysis of the role of innovation in the development of the competitive advantage of companies, also through the combination of knowledge internal and external and have already been published in important academic journals like Global Strategy Journal and Journal of International Business Studies.
In addition, thanks to the new agreement Angelini Industries will take part in the Luiss “Adoption Lab”, a project designed to connect students with the business world. The aim is to help them acquire experience of the working world from within an important multinational, focusing on specific business cases and project work, as well as giving them the possibility of undertaking an internship after graduating.
The “Strategic Innovation” Chair launch event involves a round table with Silvia Ferrara, Professor of Mycenaean Philology at Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, and Giuseppina Di Foggia, CEO and Vice President of Nokia Italia, and will be moderated by Francesco Giorgino, Director of the Master’s in Communication and Marketing at the Luiss School of Government. This will be followed by the conclusions of Alessandro Zattoni, Head of the University’s Business and Management Department.
“The Angelini Industries – Luiss collaboration through the Chair in Strategic Innovation strengthens our role as a center of international academic excellence in the field of innovation: collaborations with companies, professionals and the public administration have always represented an opportunity for students to exchange ideas and for the entire academy and therefore an irreplaceable source of stimulus for the creation of new training courses and impact research”, commented Rector of Luiss Andrea Prencipe
“Innovation has always been a key factor, at the center of the growth processes of a Group like ours, present in highly competitive sectors, and cooperation between universities and businesses has always been an essential driver for the development of open innovation projects. Today, our partnership with such a prestigious institution as Luiss enables us to address innovation in an even more systematic way - through higher education, research and cultural growth - with the aim of constantly generating new ideas and knowledge that can not only aid the development of our industry but also the economy, society and people themselves, a key resource and asset of every business”, explained Sergio Marullo di Condojanni, CEO of Angelini Industries.
With the partnership between Luiss and Angelini Industries, the academic and business worlds come together to generate added value via a common path.
